Guitarist and composer Tara Cunningham performs her new album Almost – Not Exactly, out on nonclassical on July 25. Created during a holiday on the coast of northern France, Tara combines percussive sounds from rocks, shells and bits of wood alongside manipulated guitar to create an entrancing, beat-based sonic landscape. Tara will be performing the album in full live for the first time alongside projections of dance films which accompany the album’s release. Tapes will be on sale during the night for £10, or are available at the discounted price of £8 through the £20 ticket bundle.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tara Cunningham is a guitarist and composer from the UK, whose work focusses on both improvisation and collaboration. Her ever-evolving sound straddles the worlds of alternative music, jazz, experimental, rock, art pop, and the spaces in between. Current live and recorded projects include: 90s acid-jazz outfit Red Snapper, post-rock four piece Modern Nature, and experimental improvised duo with bassist Caius Williams. Her solo guitar work comprises of her 2023 debut album ‘Silence and Noise’, and most recently, ‘Two, Three’, released in April of this year. As a side-person and collaborator, she has worked with Sebastian Rochford, Corrie Dick, Laura Jurd, Liam Noble, Nadeem Din-Gabisi, Natalie Wildgoose, Max Winter, amongst many others. Her work as a composer for moving image includes ‘a loop, of exchanges, until we vomit’ with film maker Luca Baioni, ‘Strange Like It Sounds’ in collaboration with Swiss artist Nick Walter, and Pascal Bergamin’s 2024 feature film ‘Portraits of Dangerous Women’.
