In its tireless quest for creating new bridges between musical styles which may appear quite distant at a "first sight", the EVOE string quartet invites you to embark on a "NonClassical" time travel throughout musical genres.
We're immensely excited to announce that in collaboration with the legendary Tokyovenue Superdeluxe we are making our debut in Asia this April with a clubnight celebrating the links between the alternative classical scenes in London and Tokyo.
We return to Leeds next month with another very promising LCM collaboration, this time hooking up with artists such as Damien Harron and Jess Aslan, and featuring music by Dai Fujikura among others. Plus DJ sets from Gabriel Prokofiev & Nwando Ebizie.

Nonclassical's James Greer will give a talk about Nonclassical at Tokyo's PechaKucha 20x20 night tomorrow: Wednesday 28 January. The talk comes ahead of a series of Nonclassical club nights due to take place in Tokyo this April (details TBA). These will be our first ever events in Asia.

Change Ringing @ LimeWharf is an immersive exhibition and contemporary music night on the theme of climate change. Change Ringing forms around a sculpture incorporating six bronze bells, whose shapes and sizes mathematically correspond to increasing global temperatures during the 20th Century. Staged in LimeWharf's cavernous new Annex space, Change Ringing will be an exploration, through sound, vision, and word, of the most pertinent and pressing issue of our time.
We had 80 entries from around the world. It was a difficult decision, but the finalists stood out as really embracing the challenge of writing for international live streamed ensemble.

Firstly the Nonclassical team would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the remixers for entering such brilliant & creative remixes into this competition. We've been really overwhelmed by the wide range of remixes & also the high quality of entries. It's been almost impossible to decide on a winner as it's very hard to judge the remixes against each other as many have quite different aesthetics and musical aims.
Nonclassical Global (26 November) is the closing event of our 10 year anniversary festival. To celebrate, we’re launching a competition to compose a new work for an intercontinental ensemble linked by live global streaming.
For the final event in our tenth anniversary season, we're putting together a very special line-up spanning five venues in five different continents. For the first time, Nonclassical will be presented as a transcontinental live streamed event, where audiences will get a glimpse of the diverse alt-classical scenes reaching across the globe in 2014.

Among the prgoramme highlights is a unique chance to hear live versions of the winners of our recent remix competition. We’re looking forward to our first ever nights in Durham and Manchester and Colchester, as well as a return to Leeds.
