We are delighted to announce that Chihiro Ono was selected by the panel from our recent open call in partnership with RNCM Centre for Practice & Research in Science & Music (PRiSM). Chihiro will be working with the team and Artificial Intelligence facilities at PRiSM in the coming months to produce a brand new work, which will be premiered at Associate Composer Simon Knighton’s curated event in September. Stay tuned for updates from Chihiro on her creative process and experience working with Machine Learning.

“I have been dreaming for a long time to find a place where science and music can merge together with my practice – this commission feels like a dream come true. I am thrilled (and also nervous!) and really looking forward to going wild on this unpredictable journey with Simon, Nonclassical and the PRiSM team.” – Chihiro Ono

The panel were incredibly impressed by the quality and quantity of the applications they received, and would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply. If you’re interested in hearing about future opportunities and open calls, sign up to our mailing list here.

“It has been incredible to see all the ideas that the theme 'Dynamical Systems and Natural Environements' resulted in with the call, and I myself am only just getting to grips with how much potential there is to develop this concept musically. I'm really looking forward to working with Chihiro and everyone at Nonclassical and PRiSM to put this concert together and see what we all come up with!” Simon Knighton

This commission is supported by RNCM Centre for Practice & Research in Science & Music (PRiSM) and Nonclassical.
