"conducive to optimism about the future of classical music" (The Times)
Escape to a tranquil oasis of sound without even leaving the city – we’re bringing the best new classical and experimental music to the City skyline in the first of our free events in the City of London Sky Gardens.
Composer, DJ and electronic musician Dan Samsa – alias Warsnare – is the first this year’s Associate Composers to curate a nonclassical night. Presented in the round of the Albany in Deptford, Dan presents an evening that combines 360-degree audio with the powerful sound system of UK bass culture.
We recently chatted to Dan about his upcoming night, which features works from himself, Berlin-based artist Kamikaze Space Programme and Luke David Harris & Henrik Oppermann.
Music, sound art and public sculpture meld together with Dominic Murcott’s The Harmonic Canon, his British Composer Award winning composition featuring one half-tonne double bell, an array of unusual metal percussion and two virtuosic percussionists.
Langham Research Centre’s radiophonic experiments are twisted into new shapes on Tape Reworks Vol. 1, a split EP featuring remixes by renowned experimental musician Jim O’Rourke and Berlin-based industrial band group A.
Mesmerising, immersive and heavily textured – Tom Richards’ new LP PINK NOTHING is now available to download and stream, and also buy on 12” vinyl.
The latest in our annual Outside the Lines series is out now. The all-female EP features some of the most exciting performers and composers to emerge from the new classical music scene in London.
