“Abrasive and abrupt, it’s both classical and non-classical, infused with funk and alternative rock” (The Times on Troubairitz by Tansy Davies)

We're excited to present a night of music by Tansy Davies, the winner of the 2016 British Composer Award for her Opera Between Worlds. Her music jolts and pulses. Listening to it is a bit like being on a train that can bump suddenly from racing velocity to slowness, and that can somehow rattle along in a somewhat dislocated fashion at several different speeds at the same time. Meanwhile, the view out of the window will be changing.

Programme

  • Troubairitz for voice, percussion and flute
  • Greenhouses for voice, Indian harmonium and flute
  • This Love/Destroying Beauty/Static for voice and piano
  • Song of Pure Nothingness for Indian harmonium and voice

Plus DJ sets by BBC Radio 3 Late Junction presenter Nick Luscombe.

We released Tansy Davies' debut album, Troubairitz, in 2011. Listen on the right or on Spotify or Bandcamp.
