Tallinn Music Week presents a Nonclassical showcase in Estonia.

Having started out as a music industry conference and talent showcase festival, Tallinn Music Week has broadened into an all-encompassing city festival. It's the only festival in the world that hosts a dedicated programme for virtually every music genre.

We've chosen some of our favourite Nonclassical artists to take to the stage and represent the breadth of the contemporary classical music scene in London:

Friday 31 March
19:30-22:00
Mustpeade Maja, Pikk 26, 10133 Tallinn

  • 19:30 - OUREYES Collective - a group of composers, artists and performers specialising in contemporary classical music, immersive concerts and audiovisual works. They recently competed in our Battle of the Bands 2017 competition.
  • 20:30 - The Hermes Experiment - contemporary quartet made up of harp, clarinet, voice and double bass. Winners of our Battle of the Bands 2014, the Tunnell Trust Awards 2016 and Park Lane Group Young Artists 2015/16.
  • 21:30 - Aisha Orazbayeva - violinist who released her debut album Outside with us in 2011. She has carved out a reputation as a fearless interpreter of modern music and is in demand with repertoire extending from Bach and Telemann to Lachenmann, Feldman and Nono.
  • Nonclassical DJs including BBC Radio 3 Late Junction presenter Nick Luscombe and our very own El Ward.

Our Executive Director - Eleanor Ward - will also be on a panel exploring how the contemporary and classical scene is dealing with the 'Now'. Taking place on Friday 31 March at 14:30, the panel aims to push the boundaries and explore what's happening within the new music scene.
