A new VA compilation is being released to celebrate the legacy of Daphne Oram. Out now on Nonclassical, vari/ations - Ode To Oram sees ten contemporary artists create tracks built around sound samples taken from over 280 of the electronic music pioneer's audio tapes—some of which have never been heard before.

Cosey Fanni Tutti, TAAHLIAH, Deena Abdelwahed, Marta Salogni and xname are among those who feature. "It's been such a privilege to work with Daphne's sounds," Cosey Fanni Tutti said. "She's been an inspiration for so many years. I'm proud to be a part of this project that marks her centenary and in acknowledgement of her influence, remarkable experimental vision and unique approach to the concept of sound, which has been key to the development of electronic music."

Oram, who died in 2003, cofounded the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and is the inventor of Oramics, a system that turns drawn shapes into electronic sound. vari/ations - Ode To Oram is being released in partnership with the Oram Awards and Oram Trust.
