This summer Peckham Rye’s Multi-Storey Car Park is once again open as a staggeringly good bar and venue, and for the second year running we’re teaming up with TROSP to bring a 100 piece orchestra into the concrete expanse for a FREE concert. Last year the vacant parking lot was packed with 1,400 music lovers for Stravinsky’s iconic Rite of Spring, this year the orchestra will perform a minimalist epic, John Adams’ Harmonielehre.
John Adams has said he was inspired by a dream in which he “watched a gigantic supertanker take off and thrust itself into the sky like a Saturn rocket”. You can kind of see what he means:
