Big Thanks From Nonclassical
December 9th, 2009 | Published in NEWS
First things first, big thanks to everyone who came down to the Nonclassical Club on the 7th of December which saw DJ Switch perform an outstanding rendition of the “Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra” which had the Macbeth left in awe of this true talent. We were also treated to John Cage’s “Imaginary Landscape No. 1″ performed by Leon Michener (Prepared Piano), Jennifer Torrence(Percussion), Gabriel Prokofiev (turntable), Richard Lannoy (turntable). Along with a fantastic solo piece for prepared Fender Rhodes. The Post Trio opened the stage with some hard-core British contemporary classical music.
2009 was a very special year for Nonclassical. We ventured state-side for SXSW and presented what was one of the highlights of the year in New York.

We also secured a new distribution deal with NAXOS for the US allowing Nonclassical to finally get full exposure in America.
The summer played host to a blinding line up of classical innovation at the Nonclassical club. Heading out of London and into the Oxfordshire countryside where Nonclassical hosted a tent at the Truck Festival with what was a personal favorite line up of the year (extra special love to the Truck crew for a great weekend).
Label-wise things have been full on with the release of the “Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra” [Full Details Here]. This went down a storm when it was performed live at the De La Warr pavilion for the launch party in November and has since received some great reviews in the press.
“It’s magnificent” Time Out Chicago
“Inventive, inherently musical and so provocative”5/5 stars Musical Opinion
Finally we’re really proud to announce that Nonclassical has 2 nominations in the contemporary classical album of the year category from the Independent Music Awards – so don’t forget to vote here.
Again Big thanks to every one who has supported us through out the year whether its through the club, releases or just spreading the word.
Extra special thanks to all the performers throughout the year.
See you all in 2010.
Have a great Christmas and New Year
Big love
